Educating each patient on preventive dentistry is the cornerstone of our practice. It involves daily care, good nutrition, periodic examinations and cleanings that maintain optimal dental health. Periodontal exams should be an ongoing part of every visit.
Your hygiene dental examination is performed by the Hygienist. All of our hygienists are certified and registered with the State of Washington. Each attend continuing education seminars to meet ongoing state requirements, and to continue to excel in their profession.
The areas examined include the mouth, teeth, and gums. We will also discuss your home care techniques and recommend certain products that will assist in your home care program. A healthy mouth is paramount prior to smile enhancement procedures.
American Dental Association (ADA) studies show that 85% of all American adults have some form of gum disease. Gum disease can lead to bone disease. The only prevention is proper home care techniques, using the correct dental care products, and scheduling regular dental examinations and cleanings.
We recommend you have a standard cleaning at least twice a year. A periodontal treatment includes a comprehensive exam and screening with treatment depending on the type of periodontal disease and how far the condition has progressed.
Tooth Colored Fillings
Fillings are a very common procedure. We do not use silver-colored amalgam fillings. All our filing materials are tooth-colored to ensure your smile is uniform in appearance.
A veneer is a wafer thin shell of porcelain, bonded onto the front side of a tooth. A veneer is used to produce color and minor shape changes to a tooth, and requires much less tooth reduction than a crown. Dr. Pav will help determine if this restorative method is right for you.
Dental crowns typically cover over and entirely encase the tooth, providing a new contour and cosmetic appearance. We use all-porcelain crowns throughout the entire mouth and Dr. Pav will recommend if this is a more suitable restorative option than veneers.
We work with implant specialists to create an implant for a missing single tooth, missing multiple teeth, or to replace a removable appliance.
We provide an in-home bleaching system for you take with you, with results normally appearing in approximately two weeks.
An intraoral camera is a highly advanced innovation in dentistry that allows us to get a close-up view inside your mouth. The images are displayed on a television or computer monitor, so you'll be able to see problems such as worn or broken fillings, cracked teeth, plaque deposits, cavities, gum disease, or excessive wear. The intraoral camera allows you to be an active partner in your dental assessment and enables you to make treatment decisions with confidence.
Whether you are an athlete or casual sports participant, you should wear a mouth guard to protect your teeth. If you grind your teeth while you sleep, a bite guard will help reduce symptoms of TMJ. We custom make mouth guards in both soft and hard materials.
A knocked out tooth or bitten tongue can cause panic, but quick thinking and staying calm are the best ways to approach such common dental emergencies and prevent additional unnecessary damage and costly dental restoration. This includes taking measures such as application of cold compresses to reduce swelling, and of course, contacting our office as soon as possible.
Although our staff has the experience and qualifications to treat children throughout the various stages of childhood, we do so on a limited basis. Please contact our office for more information.
